YEP South Australia Update – June 2016

The AIE-SA's YEPs hosted two key events in June. On 14 June 2016, the AIE-SA's YEPs jointly with AMPLA, held a seminar with Royal Commissioner Kevin Scarce and the Nuclear Fuel Cycle Royal Commission Consultation and Response Agency's Madeline Richardson for presenting on the findings of the Nuclear Fuel Cycle Royal Commission. The seminar was an exciting opportunity to hear firsthand, not only about the Royal Commission's findings, but also the next steps being put in place by the South Australian Government to explore the important issues of community consent and social licence that underpin the business case for a nuclear future for South Australia. The AIE-SA's YEPs also kicked off its 2016 Lunch and Learn Series on 30 June 2016 with the first session being presented by Dougal McOmish, an Associate Director at Sundrop Farms. Dougal provided an overview of Sundrop's revolutionary greenhouse system, which harnesses the sun's energy to provide freshwater for irrigation, electricity to power its greenhouse, and the energy to heat and cool its crops. It was a great opportunity to see how emerging technologies are being developed and used by businesses in Australia and South Australia in particular.
