Discussion topics include: VRET and the reverse auction, trends and challenges in the Victorian renewables market and potential impacts of the National Energy Guarantee in Victoria.

Simon Corbell was appointed as the Victorian Renewable Energy Advocate (VREA) in December 2016. He was previously Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for the Environment and Climate Change of the ACT, where he drove the delivery of large scale solar and wind farms and oversaw the implementation of the ACT large scale feed in tariff and reverse auction process.  Simon’s key responsibilities include:

• leading efforts to attract further investment in renewable energy

• implementation of the Victorian Renewable Energy Target (VRET) scheme

• providing independent advice to the Government


Simon will be joined on the panel by Andrew Hyland from Pacific Hydro and Usman Pervaiz from Energy Australia, who will provide a practical industry perspective - drawing from their experiences in commercial solar and wind projects in Victoria. The discussion will be facilitated by Justin Jones, Counsel of Ashurst, who has extensive experience in energy regulation and markets.
