AIE Perth | The Energy Security Board: meeting challenges in the NEM
Date: Tue 30 Jun 2020 @11.30am (AWST) / 1.30pm (AEST)
In cooperation with Energy Policy WA, AIE Perth is delighted to offer members an update on the work being undertaken by the Energy Security Board (ESB) to provide whole-of-system oversight for energy security and reliability in the National Electricity Market (NEM).
During the 40-minute webinar David Swift, ESB Deputy Chair, will discuss the technical issues associated with running a power system with a high proportion of variable renewable, distributed and asynchronous generation and storage. He will also touch upon the challenges associated with connecting new generation to the grid and the use integrated system planning and development of renewable energy zones.
The Energy Security Board was established by the COAG Energy Council in August 2017 and is chaired by Dr Kerry Schott AO. The Board’s role is to coordinate the implementation of the reform blueprint produced by Australia's Chief Scientist, Dr Alan Finkel AO.
