AIE Sydney | Eastern Australia gas outlook with a historical context
Venue: K & L Gates
Date: Mon 21 Oct 2019 @ 5:30pm to 7:30pm
Having successfully supplied the market since its inception 50 years ago, the eastern Australian gas supply market is facing the most critical challenges to date for maintaining adequate supply to all sectors and at affordable prices. Over the past two decades, market dynamics have changed significantly with coal seam gas replacing conventional resources as the dominant supply source and commitment of the majority of eastern Australian gas reserves to LNG export from Gladstone, intensifying competition for gas supply with a material increase in pricing.
Stephen Kelemen, a gas industry veteran who has been at the forefront of the upstream gas market dynamics over the past 20+ years, will present his views on future supply and outlook on pricing against the backdrop of how similar challenges were addressed over the 50-year evolution of the eastern Australian gas market. Stephen will also discuss how risks and uncertainties associated with resource assessment are dealt with in commercializing gas resources.
