AIE Sydney - On Importing LNG into NSW; and the Bigger Picture

Venue: Allens

Date: Wed 22 Aug 2018 @ 5:15pm for 5:30pm start to 7:30pm

With the tight supply-demand balance in Australian east coast gas markets biting hard into industrial and commercial gas users’ profitability, and in some cases viability, the race is on to bring on new gas supply in Eastern Australia. However, with prospects for development of new onshore gas resources in NSW and Victoria either severely hobbled or outright scratched, the odds are shortening on alternative options from further afield. One such contender already well out of the stalls is Australian Industrial Energy, with its proposal to import Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) into Port Kembla, NSW. The scale of the proposed venture is such that it has been described as a game-changer for NSW. AIE Sydney branch is pleased to welcome Kylie Hargreaves, Australian Industrial Energy, to present on the project.

In a separate presentation, James Whistler, Director Natural Gas & LNG, BGC Partners, will provide a wider perspective on gas and LNG markets in the Asia-Pacific. This will outline the regional context as it impacts on Australian gas markets, and potential interactions into the future.
