AIE Sydney | Reliability and security in the NEM with a high-penetration wind, PV and storage
Venue: Baker McKenzie Offices
Date: Tue 04 Jun 2019 @ 5:15pm to 7:30pm
The National Electricity Market (NEM) is experiencing rapidly increasing penetration of wind, PV and reversible storage, often as distributed resources (DER) connected to distribution networks.
This presentation will focus on the reliability and security aspects of this transition, and in particular on the implications of increased penetration of wind, PV and storage devices that use power electronic interfaces. These inherently digital devices replace inherently analogue turbo-alternators and cause fundamental changes to short-term dynamic behaviour and more generally to practical interpretation and management of reliability and security
