AIE Sydney - Supply and Demand Pressures in the Eastern Australian Gas Market
Date: Tue 23 Apr 2019
This event has been postponed to the second half of 2019, to cover the direction of the new Federal Government. WATCH THIS SPACE
The Eastern Australian gas market is facing the most critical challenges to date for maintaining adequate supply to all sectors and at prices affordable for industry (including power generation). The position is largely due to the maturity and decline of existing resources, the Queensland LNG export projects’ demand and control of the vast majority of available resources and a lack of alignment on gas policy at the COAG level. In response, many industry players are calling for urgent development of new supply sources and greater diversity of control over supply. And domestic gas reservation is again being advocated as an intervention mechanism.
