AIE YEP Melbourne – Site Visit: AGL Somerton Power Station
Venue: AGL Somerton Power Plant
Date: Mon 25 Mar 2019 @ 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm
After a sold-out event last year, the YEP Melbourne Network is excited to return to AGL Somerton Power Station for another tour this year.
AGL owns the largest electricity generation portfolio in Australia. Commissioned in 2003, the Somerton plant is equipped with four open-cycle gas turbines, each with 37.5MWe capacity, delivering power to Victoria’s energy grid during peak hours. During the site visit, learn more about how AGL’s power generation mix is changing as well as Somerton’s role in the National Electricity Market. In the second part, leading AGL engineers will guide us through the gas power generator and explain the operation process of the main components: compressor, combustor, power turbine and transformer.
When: Monday, 25th March 2019
Time: 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm
Where: AGL Somerton Power Plant, 40 Oherns Road, Somerton
Cost: AIE Members FREE, Non-Members $20
