Join us on a discovery of the emerging presence of Waste to Energy in Australia, this evening will provide a overview of the topic and what is currently under construction in Kwinana. We have two presentors for the evening;
Niels Jakobsen will provide an overview of the Waste to Energy technology and provide a insight to his international experience in Waste to Energy systems. Niels has + 30 years of experience from the thermal power/energy sector globally, having considerable experience and knowledge from development and implementation of Waste-to-Energy projects.
He has been involved in the implementation of Waste-to-Energy projects like Dublin Waste-to-Energy 2x35 tonnes/h, Jönköping Energi 1x22 tonnes/h (Sweden) and Vestforbrænding 1x35 tonnes/h (Copenhagen/Denmark). He is currently based in Perth/WA as resident project manager on Ramboll's owners engineer assignment on the Kwinana Waste-to-Energy project, Australia’s first large scale WtE project.
Frank Smith as CEO of Avertas Energy, Frank is overseeing the project delivery of Australia’s first waste to energy facility to be constructed in Kwinana. This role includes co-ordination of the international design and construction work of the EPC Contractor and the interfaces with the owners engineer, local Authorities and utility providers.
Frank has over 30 years experience in major projects across a range of market sectors from commercial through to industrial including advanced manufacturing facilities for the pharmaceutical and microelectronic industries.
Avertas Energy is also taking responsibility to engage with the broader community to help inform and educate in the areas of energy recovery technology and the future directions of waste diversion and treatment. Avertas is a strong supporter of the Western Australian Government’s Waste Resource & Recovery Strategy and the move toward a circular economy.
