YOUNG ENERGY PROFESSIONALS 2017 LUNCH AND LEARN SERIES
AEMC SYSTEM SECURITY MARKET FRAMEWORKS REVIEW
Sebastien Henry, Senior Adviser, Australian Energy Market Commission
The electricity industry in Australia is undergoing a fundamental transformation. Driven by technological development and climate change policies, the National Electricity Market is experiencing a significant shift towards non-synchronous generating technologies, such as wind farms and solar panels. Due to their different technical characteristics, the widespread deployment of these technologies is having major impacts on the operation of the power system.
Sebastien Henry will be presenting on the outcomes of the AEMC’s recently finalised System Security Market Frameworks Review, including proposed draft changes to the National Electricity Rules and future areas of focus for the AEMC.
Sebastien has approximately ten years of experience working in both commercial and government roles in the National Electricity Market. Sebastien’s experience in energy policy development has focused on key aspects of the wholesale market, including generator bidding behaviour and market power, retailer default and financial contagion, and the effective integration of environmental policy.
Sebastien’s experience in energy markets also comprises a role undertaking price forecasting and risk analysis in the market trading division at Eraring Energy, a previous NSW state government owned generator.
Sebastien has a Bachelor of Materials Engineering and a Masters in Finance from the University of New South Wales.
