YEP Melbourne – Site Visit: AGL Somerton Power Station

The YEP Melbourne Network, in partnership with the AIE, is pleased to offer the opportunity to experience a guided tour of AGL’s Somerton Power Station.

AGL owns the largest electricity generation portfolio in Australia. Commissioned in 2003, the Somerton plant is equipped with four open-cycle gas turbines, each with 37.5MW capacity, delivering power to Victoria’s energy grid during peak hours. During the site visit, learn more about how AGL’s power generation mix is changing as well as the Somerton’s role in the National Electricity Market. In the second part, the AGL engineers will guide us through the gas power generator and explain the operation process of the main components: compressor, combustor, power turbine and transformer.

As a condition of entry due to safety be sure to wear enclosed shoes, long sleeves, long pants and be prepared for Melbourne’s weather!

Please note that places are limited so prompt registration is recommended. We look forward to see you there.
