AIE Council to enhance membership benefits

The AIE Council is to establish web-based Special Interest Groups—SIGs—that will enable members with common interests in particular energy sectors to discuss and develop their interests.

The first SIG will cater for members with interests in oil and gas exploration and production and the refining, marketing, distribution and retailing of petroleum products.

The Oil and Gas SIG site will provide members with local and international news; details of oil and gas conferences and seminars in Australia and overseas;
and links to other internet sites containing oil and gas industry news and views, statistics, technical and economic information. The site will also provide a vehicle for members to participate on the Internet in
the discussion of current issues arising in the industry.

Further information about the Oil and Gas SIG can be obtained from the SIG Convenor, Pat James, by e-mail at oilgas@aie.org.au

SIGs for other energy sectors will be developed in light of experience with the Oil and Gas SIG.

Council is also exploring other initiatives that will benefit members with interests in oil and gas, including an alliance with the Institute of Petroleum in London that will access many of the institute’s products and services for AIE Members. Further details will be provided in the next issue of Energy News.
