Fellows & Life Members

AIE Fellows

The AIE has over 240 current Fellows. These are individuals who:

  • Are established industry leaders who have been Members of the AIE for at least two years
  • Have been engaged in professional practice directly associated with energy disciplines and their application for a minimum of five years at the full-time equivalent after obtaining the appropriate qualification or training; and
  • Have either attained a position of superior responsibility, or are recognised as having a considerably enhanced status within an energy discipline, sufficient to justify the election to this grade.

Fellows may use the post-nominal FAIE after their name. Fellow membership types include Fellow, Fellow (Retired), Fellow (Retired and non-payment), as well as Fellow (non-payment).

AIE Honorary Life Membership

This is awarded at the discretion of the Board to AIE members who have served the Institute meritoriously and made a significant contribution at a national or branch level over a substantial period. It has been awarded sparingly to date.

A Branch can request consideration for persons who have served their Branch on a similar meritorious basis. Branches can also be asked by the Board if they wish to nominate any Branch members or be asked by the Board to consider nominations of Branch members from others including the Board. Honorary Life Members receive a commemorative certificate, are exempt from future subscriptions and retain their grade of membership (Fellow, Member etc).
